Sadhana Sargam is a leading playback singer in mainstream Hindi movies. She is the only Indian playback singer who has sung in more than 24 regional languages. She also holds a record for being the only North Indian to have won the National Award for a South Indian song. She is also a trained Hindustani classical singer. She has ventured into the southern Carnatic classical style with ease. Her real name is Sadhana Ghanekar and she got music in her blood, as her mother Neelatai is a well known classical singer and music teacher. She got her first lessons in music from her mother and then later by Pt. Jasraj. Sadhana’s intensely musical environment made any other field of activity inconceivable for the tot who had her first tryst with musical training at the age of 4. She would sing on stage with the late Vasant Desai. She is a recipient of the prestigious National Film Award and Filmfare Awards.
