One of the prominent vocalists, Ghulam Abbas Khan belongs to the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana which owes its allegiance to Tansen's tradition. He was initiated into music at a tender age by his grandfather, the late Ustad Ghulam Jafar Khan, a well known sarangi player of India. Later he continued his training under the guidance of his father Padma Shri Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan, a classical vocalist of international repute. Ghulam Abbas Khan hails from the renowned family of musicians, his maternal grandfather being one of the great classical vocalists of India, late Ustad Mushtaq Husain Khan, who was the first recipient of the Padma Bhushan Award. Gifted with a sonorous and mellifluous voice, Ghulam Abbas Khan sings classical khayal, ghazals, thumri, dadra, Sufi, folk, and bhajans with equal ease. He is popular not only for his phenomenal performances at music festivals and concerts in India but also in countries like UK, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mauritius, Thailand, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, U.A.E., and Oman.
