Samarjit Roy

A versatile vocalist, composer par excellence, Samarjit Roy is a name to reckon with when it comes to Indian Classical Music. Another feather in his cap is the group Raagini- the essence of music (Maitrayee, Chitra, Rakhi, Kriti & Apra) for which he is the Trainer and Director. He has been fortunate to receive his training of Hindustani Classical Music from renowned vocalists viz. Padmashri Pt. Madhup Mudgal and Padmashri Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty, and is now himself imparting the training in Hindustani Classical Music (vocal) at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi. He has been conferred with numerous prestigious accolades for his spellbinding performances like Pt. D. V. Paluskar Award, Vasudev Chintaman Waghmare Award, Sangeeta Vasant Bendre Award for excelling in Sangeet Visharad from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai. His debut music album Tera Tasavvur (released under the banner of Mystica Music) got nominated in the category of Best Popular Music Album for GIMA 2011 (Global Indian Music Awards).
